3 Ways to Wear: The Pleated Midi

So, we’re well and truly into winter now (you only have to look at the baltic temperatures heading our way!!) and you probably have your pleated midis safely packed away never to be seen again… well, until Spring anyway.  But it doesn’t have to be that way because I’ve put together 3 winter worthy looks that will have you converted that midis aren’t just our fair weather friends.

#1 The Pleated Midi + Oversized Sweater

Is there anything cosier in winter than an oversized sweater?! I think not. And so I’ve always loved the combination of a pleated midi with a gorgeously sumptuous knit to make what is otherwise a daunting task in winter (getting those legs out) that much more bearable.  Oh and contrary to these lovely ladies, I’d definitely be wearing tights.  Keep it chic with a statement earring, heeled boots and a simple bag.

#2 The Prim and Proper Pleated Midi

You’d be hard pressed not to ooze sophisticated elegance in one of these babies (and by babies, I mean a pleated midi skirt…).  It’s length and flattering pleats mean that it does all the work in creating an effortlessly chic look so all you have to do is added a fitted sweater (with a shirt collar poking out of neckline if you like) and some warmth in the form of a midi coat or a tailored jacket.  I’d go with ballet pumps as I love them even in winter, but you could equally pair this with boots (ankle or knee) or heels.

#3 The Relaxed Pleated Midi

We all need an off duty option whether it’s for every day or just now and then, and it’s so easy to dress down your midi to channel those off the clock vibes even in the winter.  And what better way to do that than in a pair of trainers, and whatever the brand you’re currently sporting – from Adidas Originals to Superga or Golden Goose Deluxe – they all work just the same. Add a couple of layers on top (whatever takes your fancy, but I’d go with a thinner base layer and a cashmere knit) and finish it off with a leather jacket or a shearling biker jacket… I’ll be with the latter for the warmth and because I’m obsessed with Zara’s must have version this season.
